Collection of miscellaneous materials relating to Michigan swamp land sates and settlement, 1859, 1870, and 1873. There is an April 9, 1859 certified of "an act to provide for the settlement and drainage of the swamp lands by actual settlers" ... Feb. 15, 1859, signed by Edm. B. Fairfield, President of the [Mich.] Senate and Henry A. Shaw, Speaker of the [Mich.] House of Representatives. The copy is printed with additional information added in handwriting. Also, a land patent, certificate No. 21218, issued to W. Burt, Saginaw (Mich.) for the sale of swamp land, Jan. 16, 1870. The patent is illustrated with the state seal of Mich. On the back it is noted that the patent was recorded on Oct. 13, 1873 in Book 79, p. 673, by Harry Bush, Registrar. The patent was issued and signed by Henry P. Baldwin, Governor of Michigan, and Saul H. Row, Deputy Secretary of State.
